During his tenure as President of Nigeria, Chief Obasanjo prioritized African dress, appearing for almost all functions in Adire African Batik tie and dye. The Adire and African Fabrics Centre takes advantage of Abeokuta’s reputation for excellence in tie and dye techniques.

The Tourist, researcher and visitor looking for that special souvenir will not miss the Adire and African Fabrics Centre, first building inside the premises of the OOPL Complex. Also on display are the vibrant colours and captivating patterns of Kente, Aso Oke, Tiv, Nupe, Akwete fabrics from other parts of the country and continent.

The visitor can also receive training on traditional Adire production techniques. Research on improving the traditional Adire production method for is also ongoing at the Centre.
